Child themes can be very complex, or they can be very simple.
In this HDQC, you’ll learn how to create a simple child theme.
One of the purposes of a simple child theme is so that when the parent theme is updated, you don’t lose all the customization you did in your CSS and footer files and possibly a few other files that you may choose to change.
The parent theme becomes the template for the child theme, and only a few files from the parent theme are necessary to create a simple, child theme.
We’ll use one of WordPress’ default themes to accomplish our mission.
This class will be up to three (3) hours in length: about an hour of guided instruction and the rest of the time will be for questions and answers.
A video tutorial takeaway (VTT) of your HDQC session will be available within twenty-four (24) hours after your session. The VTT is not available right away, because it may need to be edited/optimized for maximum viewing/learning benefit.

*Each session is done through screen-sharing and conference call with a live instructor walking participants through the content. Each session has it’s own VTT, because different participants in different sessions may have different questions. All VTTs, however, will be made available with a list of specific questions that each VTT addresses.
**The first VTT won’t be available until after the first session has been held. Ordering will be available after that date.
